Legislative Activities
NYPA's legislative committee monitors legislation which affects New York's community newspaper industry. The association uses an on-line legislative monitoring program to track bills and for background to prepare memorandums and briefs to various legislative committees. NYPA keeps close watch on pending bills that not only have the potential to effect your newspaper's content but also your bottom line.

The legislative committee works closely with the National Newspaper Association and the Newspaper Association of America on federal issues, such as postal rates.

NYPA also assists newspapers with open government issues, freedom of information problems, fair trial/free press questions, and legal notice publication requirements.
